Sinopsis

Puasa Ramadan merupakan salah satu ibadah utama dalam Islam yang tidak hanya mengajarkan pengendalian diri, kesabaran, dan kedekatan spiritual kepada Allah, tetapi juga memiliki dampak biologis dan psikologis yang signifikan. Selama beberapa dekade terakhir, penelitian ilmiah telah menyoroti hubungan antara praktik puasa, kesehatan otak, dan perilaku spiritual.

Buku ini hadir untuk menjembatani pemahaman antara sains modern dan prinsip-prinsip Islam, memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang bagaimana puasa dapat memengaruhi fungsi otak dan perilaku manusia.

Dalam buku ini, pembaca akan menemukan penjelasan mendalam tentang mekanisme molekuler dan neurobiologis yang terjadi selama puasa, termasuk pergeseran metabolik menuju keton (β-hydroxybutyrate), aktivasi jalur AMPK/SIRT1/PGC-1α, peningkatan BDNF, autophagy, dan modulasi HPA axis. Semua mekanisme ini berkontribusi pada peningkatan neuroplastisitas, yang menjadi dasar bagi kemampuan pengendalian diri, fokus, perhatian, regulasi emosi, serta kesadaran spiritual—semua aspek penting dalam perilaku taqwa.

Buku ini juga mengintegrasikan dalil Al-Qur’an dan Hadis yang relevan, menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip spiritual yang diajarkan melalui puasa tidak hanya bersifat moral dan religius, tetapi juga memiliki landasan ilmiah yang mendukung kesehatan otak dan mental. Dengan pendekatan ini, pembaca dapat memahami bagaimana ibadah puasa secara holistik menghubungkan tubuh, pikiran, dan jiwa, sekaligus memberikan bukti ilmiah mengenai manfaat puasa bagi pengembangan karakter dan kualitas hidup.

Buku ini dapat menjadi referensi yang bermanfaat bagi akademisi, peneliti, praktisi kesehatan yang ingin memahami hubungan antara puasa, neuroplastisitas, dan perilaku taqwa. Semoga pembahasan dalam buku ini tidak hanya menambah pengetahuan ilmiah, tetapi juga menginspirasi pembaca untuk menerapkan prinsip-prinsip puasa dengan kesadaran penuh, sehingga tercipta keseimbangan antara kesehatan fisik, mental, dan spiritual.

dr. Nurhadi Ibrahim, PhD.

Departemen Fisiologi, Fakultas Kedokteran, Universitas Indonesia

dr. Nurhadi Ibrahim, PhD adalah dosen dan peneliti di Departemen Fisiologi, Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia (FKUI) yang dikenal dalam bidang neurofisiologi dan biologi sistem tubuh. Beliau menyelesaikan pendidikan dokter di FKUI, kemudian meraih gelar Doktor (PhD) dalam Ilmu Biomedik dengan fokus riset pada neurofisiologi dan regulasi metabolik di University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Fukuoka, Jepang. Setelah itu, ia melanjutkan penelitian postdoctoral di Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Amerika Serikat, memperdalam kajian mengenai neuroplastisitas, sistem saraf otonom, dan mekanisme molekuler adaptasi metabolik.

Sebagai peneliti, Dr. Nurhadi aktif mengkaji hubungan antara puasa, pola makan, regulasi energi, dan kesehatan otak, termasuk bagaimana perubahan metabolik dapat memengaruhi neuroplastisitas, kognisi, dan keseimbangan sistem saraf. Beliau telah mempublikasikan beragam artikel ilmiah di jurnal nasional dan internasional bereputasi serta kerap menjadi pembicara pada konferensi ilmiah tingkat nasional dan global.

Selain aktivitas penelitian, Dr. Nurhadi berperan dalam pengembangan kurikulum dan pengajaran fisiologi di program sarjana dan pascasarjana FKUI. Ia juga membimbing mahasiswa dalam penelitian neurofisiologi, biologi molekuler, dan biomedik integratif. Minat riset terkininya mencakup modulasi neuroplastisitas, serta strategi pencegahan penyakit neurodegeneratif.

Dengan perpaduan keahlian di bidang fisiologi, neurosains, dan biologi metabolik, Dr. Nurhadi Ibrahim menjadi salah satu akademisi yang berkontribusi pada pengembangan ilmu neurospiritual dan integrasi antara kesehatan biologis dan perkembangan perilaku.
