Sinopsis

Buku ajar ini disusun untuk memberikan pemahaman menyeluruh mengenai dunia mikroorganisme — entitas hidup mikroskopis yang menjadi dasar dari hampir seluruh proses biologis di bumi. Dengan gaya penulisan yang komunikatif dan berbasis ilmiah, buku ini mengantarkan mahasiswa mengenali hakikat mikroba, mulai dari sejarah perkembangannya, struktur dan fungsi sel, hingga peranannya dalam ekosistem, kesehatan, industri, dan pertanian.

Setiap bab dirancang secara sistematis, menghubungkan teori klasik dengan penemuan modern dalam bidang mikrobiologi. Mahasiswa tidak hanya diajak memahami konsep dasar, tetapi juga menelusuri aplikasi mikroba dalam bioteknologi, lingkungan, dan sistem kehidupan sehari-hari. Dengan tambahan ilustrasi, tabel, dan diagram interaktif, buku ini mempermudah pembaca memahami hubungan antarproses biologis yang dikendalikan oleh mikroba.

Keunggulan buku ini terletak pada integrasi antara aspek konseptual, eksperimental, dan aplikatif yang dikembangkan sesuai capaian pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi. Di akhir setiap bab, disajikan soal evaluasi (esai dan pilihan ganda).

Biografi Penulis

Prof. Dr. Ir. Ida Suryani, M.P., Universitas Cokroaminoto Makassar

Prof. Dr. Ir. Ida Suryani, M.P. Email: (NIDN 0019066601/NUPPTK : 3951744645230082), lahir di Soppeng, Sulawesi Selatan 19 Juni 1966 merupakan anak pertama dari 6 bersaudara dari bapak Drs. H.Tantu Panna bin Panna, MS dan Ibu Hj. Nape binti Petta Sinring Daeng Patau menamatkan pendidikan di SD Negeri Tauladan Kalukuang Tahun 1979, SMP Negeri 4 Makassar tahun 1982, dan SMAN 1 Makassar tahun 1985. Pendidikan S1 pada jurusan Ilmu Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Hasanuddin tahun 1990, S2 Konsentrasi Kesuburan dan Pengawetan Tanah/ Sistem Sistem Pertanian di Universitas Hasanuddin tahun 1999, dan menyelesaikan S3 pada Konsentrasi Ilmu Tanah, Program Studi Ilmu Pertanian, Universitas Hasanuddin tahun 2012.

Penulis sejak tahun 1994 sampai sekarang adalah dosen PNS dpk Kopertis Wilayah IX pada Universitas Cokroaminoto Makassar dan pada tanggal 26 Maret 2025, penulis telah dinyatakan memenuhi kompetensi kelayakan kenaikan jabatan Akademik Dosen ke Guru Besar / Profesor. SK Guru Besar TMT 1 April 2025. Saat ini penulis menjabat sebagai Wakil Rektor 1 bidang Akademik dan Inovasi.

Penulis aktif menulis di beberapa jurnal Nasional, Prosiding dan Jurnal Internasional dan beberapa buku referensi yang diterbitkan secara Nasional, diantaranya, Mengenal Mikroba dan Habitatnya, Waspada Bahaya Limbah di Sekitar anda, Indahnya Dunia Pertanian didukung oleh Green Teknologi, Cetak sawah baru dan Manajemen Lahan Pertanian, Lingkungan dan Serangga, Kunci penjaga Ekosistem.

Penulis juga beberapa kali mendapatkan hibah penelitian MP3EI, Fundamental, Hibah Bersaing dan pengabdian dari DIKTI.

Penulis juga aktif di beberapa organisasi seperti Pengurus Koalisi Kependudukan Indonesia Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan Periode 2022 – 2026, Pengurus HITI Sulawesi Selatan periode 2024-2028 dan pengurus Majelis Daerah Forum Alumni HMI-Wati ( Forhati ) Kota Makassar Masa Bakti 2022 – 2027.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Ida Suryani, M.P. adalah dosen tetap di Fakultas Teknik dan Teknologi Pertanian, Universitas Cokroaminoto Makassar,dengan bidang keahlian utama pada Mikrobiologi Umum. Beliau menempuh pendidikan sarjana di bidang Pertanian, jurusan Ilmu Tanah dan melanjutkan studi Magister Sistem - sistem Pertanian kekhususan Kesuburan dan Pengawetan Tanah serta Doktor dalam bidang Ilmu Pertanian keahlian Ilmu Tanah Universitas Hasanuddin.

Dalam karier akademiknya, Prof.Dr. Ida Suryani, M.P telah mengampu berbagai mata kuliah seperti Mikrobiologi Umum, Kesuburan Tanah, Sanitasi dan Hygiene Indukstri, Teknologi Pengolahan Limbah, Mineral dan Klasifikasi tanah. Selama lebih dari tiga dekade, beliau aktif mengintegrasikan teori dan praktik dalam kegiatan pembelajaran agar mahasiswa tidak hanya memahami konsep ilmiah, tetapi juga mampu menerapkannya dalam konteks nyata pertanian dan lingkungan.

Sebagai pendidik, telah menerbitkan beberapa buku diantaranya, Mengenal Mikroba dan Habitatnya, Waspada Bahaya Limbah di Sekitar anda, Indahnya Dunia Pertanian didukung oleh Green Teknologi, Cetak sawah baru dan Manajemen Lahan Pertanian, Lingkungan dan Serangga, Kunci penjaga Ekosistem

Bidang penelitian yang beliau tekini diantaranya Pentingnya jenis mineral tanah dan mikroba dalam mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan. Hasil-hasil penelitiannya telah dipublikasikan dalam jurnal nasional dan internasional serta menjadi dasar dalam program pengabdian masyarakat berbasis eco-agriculture dan pemberdayaan petani lokal.

Sebagai pendidik, telah menerbitkan beberapa buku diantaranya, Mengenal Mikroba dan Habitatnya, Waspada Bahaya Limbah di Sekitar anda, Indahnya Dunia Pertanian didukung oleh Green Teknologi, Cetak sawah baru dan Manajemen Lahan Pertanian, Lingkungan dan Serangga, Kunci penjaga Ekosistem

Penulis memiliki filosofi bahwa mikrobiologi bukan hanya ilmu tentang kehidupan yang tak terlihat, tetapi juga jendela untuk memahami keteraturan, keseimbangan, dan kebijaksanaan alam. Beliau percaya bahwa mahasiswa perlu diajak belajar secara dialogis, aktif, dan kontekstual agar tumbuh menjadi ilmuwan yang kritis dan peduli terhadap lingkungan.

Buku ajar Mikrobiologi Umum: Konsep Dasar, Struktur, dan Peranan Mikroba dalam Kehidupan merupakan perwujudan komitmen beliau untuk memperkaya literatur pendidikan tinggi, memperkuat dasar ilmiah mahasiswa, dan menumbuhkan kesadaran akan pentingnya mikroba sebagai mitra strategis dalam menjaga keberlanjutan kehidupan di bumi.
