Buku berjudul Museum dan Pembelajaran Berbasis Objek: Upaya Membangun Budaya Akademik Alternatif Pada Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia ini merupakan hasil dari refleksi akademik sekaligus respons praktis kami terhadap dinamika pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi Indonesia yang selama ini masih didominasi oleh pendekatan konvensional, berorientasi pada teks, dan belum sepenuhnya mendorong tumbuhnya budaya berpikir kritis, analitis, serta apresiatif terhadap realitas konkret.
Potensi intelektual mahasiswa seringkali terhambat oleh model pembelajaran yang menempatkan mereka sekadar sebagai penerima pasif. Dalam perjalanan akademik saya, ditemukan bahwa pembelajaran yang berbasis pada obyek nyata—baik dalam bentuk artefak, dokumen, benda ilmiah, hingga koleksi budaya—memberi dampak besar dalam memantik rasa ingin tahu, memperkuat pemahaman konseptual, dan membangun kedekatan emosional terhadap ilmu pengetahuan.
Inspirasi untuk menulis buku ini muncul dari berbagai pengalaman langsung dalam mengintegrasikan pendekatan object-based learning (OBL) dalam perkuliahan, kerja kuratorial, riset, hingga keterlibatan saya dalam pengelolaan museum dan arsip universitas. Dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya pembelajaran yang konkret, kita dapat menghadirkan budaya akademik alternatif yang lebih membumi, kontekstual, dan membebaskan.
Buku ini ditujukan bagi para dosen, pengelola program studi, peneliti pendidikan, mahasiswa, serta siapa pun yang memiliki kepedulian terhadap masa depan pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia. Harapannya, pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis obyek yang ditawarkan dalam buku ini dapat menjadi salah satu strategi pembaruan dalam ekosistem akademik Indonesia
