Relasi manusia-lingkungan telah menjadi isu krusial yang membutuhkan pendekatan integratif. Krisis ekologi global—perubahan iklim, hilangnya keanekaragaman hayati, degradasi lahan, dan konflik sumber daya—tidak cukup dipahami hanya melalui ilmu alam, melainkan memerlukan pemahaman dimensi sosial, budaya, dan politik.
Etnografi menawarkan pendekatan unik untuk memahami interaksi manusia-lingkungan melalui pengamatan partisipatif dan keterlibatan mendalam dengan komunitas lokal. Namun, selama ini terdapat kesenjangan metodologis antara tradisi etnografi dan kajian lingkungan.
Buku “Etnografi Lingkungan: Panduan untuk Penelitian dan Praktis” menjembatani kesenjangan tersebut sebagai panduan komprehensif pertama dalam bahasa Indonesia. Disusun berdasarkan pengalaman lapangan ekstensif, buku ini menawarkan landasan teoretis, metodologis, dan praktis bagi penerapan etnografi dalam penelitian lingkungan.
Melalui tujuh bab sistematis, buku ini membahas fondasi konseptual, metodologi penelitian, dokumentasi pengetahuan ekologi lokal, analisis konflik sumber daya, adaptasi masyarakat terhadap perubahan lingkungan, pendekatan partisipatif, hingga penerapan temuan etnografi dalam advokasi dan kebijakan lingkungan.
Buku ini ditujukan untuk mahasiswa, akademisi, peneliti, praktisi NGO, aktivis lingkungan, dan pendamping masyarakat. Di Indonesia dengan keanekaragaman budaya dan hayati yang kaya, pendekatan etnografi lingkungan sangat relevan untuk memahami tantangan pembangunan berkelanjutan.
