Angka pengangguran sarjana di Indonesia telah menembus angka satu juta orang—sebuah ironi yang memprihatinkan. Skripsi, yang seharusnya menjadi portofolio masterpiece mahasiswa—hasil dari jerih payah, waktu, tenaga, pikiran, dan biaya—justru tidak memberi nilai tambah. Padahal, di tengah persaingan kerja yang kian kompetitif, skripsi semestinya menjadi bukti konkret bahwa seorang lulusan benar-benar pribadi yang handal dan mumpuni.
Semua pihak menyadari bahwa bekal memasuki dunia kerja tidak cukup hanya dengan ijazah. Dunia kerja saat ini menuntut sarjana yang memiliki High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)—yakni kemampuan untuk menganalisis masalah, mengevaluasi situasi, dan menciptakan solusi. Karena hakekat bekerja adalah memberi nilai melalui pemecahan masalah: siapa yang paling mampu menyelesaikan masalah pemberi kerja, dialah yang akan mendapat kepercayaan, peran penting, dan penghargaan tertinggi. Kemampuan systematic thinking (berpikir runtut dan logis) dan system thinking (berpikir menyeluruh dan terintegrasi) semestinya terlatih saat mengerjakan skripsi bagi mahasiswa agar siap memasuki kompleksitas dunia kerja.
Buku ini lahir dari kegelisahan sekaligus harapan. Sudah saatnya mahasiswa dan dosen sama-sama tergugah kesadarannya bahwa skripsi bukan hanya kewajiban akademik, tetapi harus menjadi kebiasaan berpikir: menjadi way of life, bahkan menjadi skripsi kehidupan—yakni cara berpikir, cara bertindak, dan cara menyelesaikan masalah yang terus hidup dan berkembang sepanjang perjalanan karier. Jadikan buku ini sebagai panduan untuk menuju kesuksesan profesional.
