Buku “Studi Keruangan dan Mitigasi Bencana” ini menawarkan eksplorasi komprehensif tentang interaksi dinamis antara ruang geografis dan fenomena kebencanaan. Dimulai dengan fondasi konseptual tentang ruang, buku ini menelusuri perkembangan teori dasar studi keruangan, dimensi spasial, skala, dan pemetaan, hingga pemanfaatan teknologi geospasial mutakhir seperti Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG) dan big data. Pembaca akan diajak memahami bagaimana alat-alat ini menjadi esensial dalam analisis dan representasi ruang, memberikan landasan kuat untuk memahami kompleksitas lingkungan.
Fokus utama buku ini kemudian beralih pada isu kebencanaan, menguraikan secara mendalam konsep bahaya, kerentanan, dan risiko. Pembahasan dilanjutkan dengan detail mengenai siklus manajemen bencana secara holistik—mulai dari prabencana, saat bencana, hingga pascabencana—serta keterkaitannya yang erat dengan Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs). Penekanan diberikan pada bagaimana teknologi geospasial dan pendekatan keruangan menjadi tulang punggung dalam upaya mitigasi, kesiapsiagaan, respons, dan rehabilitasi bencana yang efektif.
Lebih dari sekadar teori dan teknologi, buku ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya aspek sosial dan partisipasi komunitas. Bab-bab terakhir secara khusus membahas urgensi Penurunan Risiko Bencana Berbasis Masyarakat (PRBBK) dan peranan krusial pendidikan kebencanaan yang mengintegrasikan pengetahuan spasial lokal. Pendekatan ini bertujuan untuk membangun kesadaran sosial dan meningkatkan kapasitas komunitas dalam menghadapi ancaman bencana, menyoroti bahwa ketahanan sejati berakar pada kearifan lokal dan pemberdayaan masyarakat.
Ditujukan bagi mahasiswa pascasarjana, praktisi, dan masyarakat umum yang tertarik pada isu geografi, lingkungan, dan kebencanaan, buku ini adalah panduan esensial untuk memahami, menganalisis, dan berkontribusi dalam upaya menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih aman dan berkelanjutan.
