Sinopsis

This book emerges as a response to the rapidly evolving era of Society 5.0, in which digital technology—particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI)—is increasingly permeating all aspects of life. The presence of AI is not merely a technological phenomenon, but also a moral, spiritual, and epistemological challenge that Islamic education must address wisely. The Muslim community, especially educators and thinkers, must not remain passive observers of this revolution—we must become agents of change, shaping the direction of technological development according to Islamic values.

Through this book titled “Muslim 5.0: Smart Islamic Education in the Era of AI, the author seeks to present visionary ideas that integrate advanced technology with the profound spirituality of Islam. The book offers not only practical approaches to the use of AI in education but also guidance on how AI can serve as a tool for da’wah (Islamic propagation) and character formation within a strong ethical and theological framework.

Each chapter is systematically arranged to strengthen Islamic digital literacy, provide a deeper understanding of AI concepts and opportunities, and develop adaptive and transformative teaching methods. This work also presents critical reflections on the social and ethical implications of AI, complemented by case studies from Islamic educational institutions around the world—including contributions from local institutions such as UNIMEN and the Muhammadiyah network.

Biografi Penulis

Dr. Elihami, S.Pd., M.Pd.I. , Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare

Dr. Elihami, S.Pd., M.Pd.I. is a scholar, young leader, and entrepreneur who was born in the small village of Corawali, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi, on January 21, 1988. He is the son of the late Abdul Hafid and Mrs. Normi, who raised him with the values of honesty, hard work, and devotion. His educational journey began at SD Negeri 4 Bilokka, continued at SMP Negeri 1 Panca Lautang, and he completed his high school education at SMA Negeri 1 Tellu LimpoE. From these humble beginnings in village schools, he climbed the academic ladder to the pinnacle of higher education, becoming an inspirational figure for the youth of South Sulawesi and Eastern Indonesia.

Dr. Elihami pursued higher education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare (UMPAR), earning his Bachelor's degree (S.Pd.) in English Education in 2010. However, his path was not always smooth. He once failed to pass the entrance selection to Universitas Negeri Makassar through the SPMB pathway and even faced dropout from the very campus where he eventually completed his degree. His attempt to pursue a Master’s in English Education at UNM also fell through due to financial difficulties. Nevertheless, he did not give up. He rose from these challenges and successfully completed a Master's in Islamic Education (M.Pd.I.) at UMPAR in 2015, followed by a Doctorate (Dr.) in Islamic Religious Education at the same university in 2020. He is currently undertaking a second doctoral program (Ph.D.) in Educational Management at the Philippine Women’s University, Manila, Philippines.

His persistence and enthusiasm are reflected not only in academia but also in the organizational world. During his school and university years, he was active in various organizations, such as OSIS, Saka Bayangkara, Youth Mosque Groups, HMI, IMM, and the Student Executive Board (BEM FKIP). His organizational involvement continued into adulthood, taking on strategic positions such as board member of KAHMI, Vice Chairman of Muhammadiyah Youth, Advisor for KOKAM and Tapak Suci, and as a member of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI). He is also an active member of numerous academic and social organizations, including the Indonesian Lecturers Association (ADI), ADRI, and the Indonesian Journal Volunteers (RJI).

As an academic, Dr. Elihami is known for actively mentoring students and colleagues in various academic activities such as technical guidance for PKM proposals, scientific writing training, and international journal workshops. At Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang (UNIMEN), he serves as a permanent lecturer teaching Scientific Writing and Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK), and has also taught at the Postgraduate Program of UMPAR. His teaching experience spans all levels, from elementary to high school, including five years as an honorary teacher in his hometown.

His structural career at UNIMEN has also progressed rapidly. He has held positions such as Head of the Quality Assurance Center (P2M), Head of the Research and Community Service Center (P3M), and Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M). From 2020 to 2024, he served as a member of the University Senate, and since 2024 he has been appointed as Vice Rector II of UNIMEN. In the business world, Elihami has also proven his capabilities. He is the President Director of PT Almirah Tujuh Tujuh and the owner of Almirah Residence, as well as a member of the Indonesian Construction Contractors Association. His experience demonstrates that academics can also succeed in entrepreneurship.

In academia and professional service, Dr. Elihami serves as the Head of the Lecturer Credit Score Evaluation Team, a BKD assessor, and a reviewer for national and reputable international journals. He has achieved various recognitions, including First Place in the Highest SINTA Score awarded by the Ministry of Education and Culture at UNIMEN and is listed among the Top 5000 Scientists in Indonesia. He has also secured several research and community service grants, reflecting his commitment to advancing knowledge and making a tangible impact on society.

Not only proficient in academics and managerial roles, Dr. Elihami is also an active speaker in scientific writing training and public education programs. He even holds a barista training certificate from the Indonesian National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), showcasing his multifaceted personality—a teacher, organizer, entrepreneur, and creative individual. Through a life filled with struggles, setbacks, achievements, and important positions, Dr. Elihami stands as living proof that strong determination, integrity, and sincere dedication to one's work can lead someone to become a figure who brings great benefit to the community and the nation.
