Sinopsis

The book cover for “Discourse Analysis” presents a warm, conversational scene that effectively captures the essence of what discourse analysis as a field seeks to explore. At the heart of the image are two individuals seated in a cozy, indoor setting, engaged in what appears to be a friendly and meaningful dialogue. The relaxed posture of the participants, along with their facial expressions and subtle gestures, reflects a natural flow of communication. This illustration is not merely aesthetic—it directly symbolizes the primary subject of discourse analysis: the structured study of spoken or written language in real-life contexts.

From an academic standpoint, discourse analysis investigates how language functions in social interactions, how meaning is constructed, and how communication is shaped by cultural, institutional, and interpersonal dynamics. The cover’s intimate, informal setup mirrors such real-world communicative settings—like interviews, counseling sessions, or casual conversations—which are often used as data sources in discourse studies. Biografi Penulis

Dina Sri Elvina Hutabarat , Universitas Negeri Medan, Sumatera Utara

Dina Sri Elvina Hutabarat was born in the quiet little town of Marbau on March 28, 2004. From an early age, the world of writing and reading has been an inseparable part of her, a hobby that thrives in her mind. Limited access to books and stories in her childhood, influenced by unstable economic conditions, triggered a burning passion in her. This fostered a strong determination to one day publish books and create useful works, both in the realm of stories and education. For Dina, sharing knowledge through writing is a childhood dream that she wants to realize, with the hope that every child can find interest and benefit from the books she creates.

Currently, Dina is a student studying at Medan State University, North Sumatra, majoring in English Literature. The choice of this major further honed her interest and talent in the world of literacy. With her educational background, Dina hopes that the Discourse Analysis book she wrote can be a valuable reference and get appreciation from various groups who need a deep understanding of discourse analysis. This work is a concrete manifestation of her dream to contribute to the world of education and literacy.

Steven Nikson Sitanggang , Universitas Negeri Medan, Sumatera Utara

Steven Nikson Sitanggang was born in Medan on September 8, 2005. Since childhood, he has been familiar with the world of illustrated stories through comics, which became the starting point of his interest in narrative and language. Although it seems simple, the habit of reading comics shaped his imagination and sensitivity to the storyline and the implied meaning behind each dialog. From there, the desire to one day write and publish his own work that can provide benefits, both as entertainment and as a means of learning. For him, writing is a way to speak to more people and convey ideas that can open up horizons of thinking. Steven is currently studying at Medan State University in North Sumatra, majoring in English Literature, an option that strengthens his interest and ability to deeply understand the structure of language and the meaning of texts. Through his book Discourse Analysis, Steven hopes that his work can be a useful resource for readers who want to understand discourse analysis more comprehensively, as well as a real contribution to the world of literacy and education.

Raja Sungai Simbolon, Universitas Negeri Medan, Sumatera Utara

Raja Sungai Simbolon, was born in Banda Aceh on July 3, 2005. Since elementary school I have enjoyed English. I continue to learn through watching YouTube videos. I learned a lot from watching YouTube. It inspired me to write a book to share my knowledge. Currently, I am studying at Medan State University majoring in English Literature, a choice I made in high school from my deep interest in English language and literature. Through this education, I continue to hone my discourse analysis and writing skills, so that later my works including the Discourse Analysis book that I am preparing can be a valuable reference for anyone who needs an in-depth understanding of discourse analysis.
