Sinopsis

Buku Flavonoid Teh Hijau dalam Diabetes Melitus menyajikan tinjauan ilmiah komprehensif mengenai potensi bioaktif flavonoid teh hijau (Camellia sinensis L.) dalam pencegahan dan terapi komplementer penyakit diabetes melitus (DM). Penyakit metabolik kronik ini ditandai oleh hiperglikemia akibat gangguan sekresi atau kerja insulin yang memicu stres oksidatif dan kerusakan seluler. Buku ini memaparkan keterkaitan antara peningkatan reactive oxygen species (ROS), disfungsi mitokondria, dan komplikasi DM, serta bagaimana flavonoid berperan sebagai antioksidan yang mampu menekan jalur molekuler penyebab kerusakan.

Bagian awal membahas epidemiologi dan tantangan pengelolaan DM dari perspektif klinis dan biokimiawi. Selanjutnya dijelaskan kandungan aktif teh hijau terutama epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) yang berfungsi menurunkan kadar glukosa darah, meningkatkan sensitivitas insulin, dan melindungi sel β pankreas melalui regulasi jalur persinyalan. Buku ini juga menyoroti potensi integrasi teh hijau dalam terapi modern, termasuk dosis, efek samping, kontraindikasi, dan strategi konsumsi sehari-hari yang aman serta efektif.

Kearifan fitoterapi dan pendekatan biomedis berbasis bukti menjadikan buku ini sebagai sumber referensi penting bagi mahasiswa kedokteran, farmakologi, dan peneliti biokimia. Melalui gaya penulisan yang sistematis dan aplikatif, penulis menekankan pentingnya inovasi terapi alami untuk mendukung paradigma pengobatan holistik, berkelanjutan, dan berorientasi pada pencegahan komplikasi diabetes di masa depan
