Hukum laut internasional merupakan salah satu cabang penting dalam hukum internasional yang mengatur pemanfaatan dan pengelolaan wilayah laut, sumber daya alam, serta hubungan antarnegara di laut. Bagi Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan terbesar di dunia, pemahaman terhadap hukum laut internasional menjadi sangat strategis, baik dalam konteks kedaulatan, pembangunan ekonomi, perlindungan lingkungan laut, maupun diplomasi maritim.
Buku ajar ini disusun dengan pendekatan pedagogis yang menekankan keseimbangan antara teori, norma hukum, dan praktik. Materi disajikan secara bertahap mulai dari konsep dasar hukum laut internasional, pengaturan zona-zona maritim, hak dan kewajiban negara, penyelesaian sengketa, hingga isu-isu kontemporer dan implementasi hukum laut internasional di Indonesia. Dengan demikian, buku ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pegangan utama dalam perkuliahan hukum laut internasional, khususnya pada jenjang pendidikan tinggi.
