Sinopsis

Gastropoda merupakan salah satu kelompok moluska yang paling beragam dan menarik untuk dipelajari. Sebagai kelas terbesar dalam filum Mollusca, gastropoda mencakup lebih dari 60.000 spesies yang telah dideskripsikan dan menghuni hampir seluruh tipe habitat, mulai dari laut dalam, perairan tawar, hingga lingkungan daratan. Keberadaan mereka sering kali luput dari perhatian karena ukuran tubuh yang relatif kecil dan pergerakan yang lambat. Namun di balik kesederhanaan tersebut, gastropoda menyimpan keragaman bentuk, perilaku, dan strategi hidup yang luar biasa, serta memainkan peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem.

Buku ini disusun untuk mengajak pembaca mengenal gastropoda secara lebih dekat, mulai dari pengenalan dasar, morfologi dan anatomi tubuh, hingga peran ekologis dan keterkaitannya dengan kehidupan manusia. Pembahasan disajikan dengan pendekatan ilmiah yang komunikatif, sehingga dapat diakses tidak hanya oleh mahasiswa dan akademisi yang mempelajari zoologi invertebrata, tetapi juga oleh pembaca umum yang memiliki ketertarikan terhadap dunia biologi, laut, dan keanekaragaman hayati.

Melalui setiap bab, buku ini berupaya menyajikan gambaran yang utuh mengenai gastropoda, dengan memadukan penjelasan ilmiah dan contoh-contoh konkret yang mudah dipahami. Pendekatan ini diharapkan dapat membantu pembaca memahami kompleksitas dunia gastropoda tanpa kehilangan rasa ingin tahu dan ketertarikan terhadap keindahan proses-proses biologis yang berlangsung di dalamnya. Studi tentang gastropoda juga memberikan jendela untuk memahami konsep-konsep penting dalam biologi, seperti evolusi, adaptasi, dan interaksi antarorganisme dalam suatu ekosistem. Akhirnya, buku ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan literasi sains, pendidikan biologi, serta upaya konservasi keanekaragaman hayati. Dengan mengenal gastropoda secara lebih mendalam, pembaca diajak untuk melihat bahwa bahkan organisme yang tampak sederhana pun memiliki peran dan nilai yang besar bagi keberlanjutan kehidupan di bumi.

Biografi Penulis

Aloysius Djalo, Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira

Penulis bernama Aloysius Djalo, lahir di Doka pada 22 Agustus 1963. Penulis berprofesi sebagai dosen dan di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi. Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira di Kupang NTT. Pendidikan tinggi ditempuh pada Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira Kupang dengan gelar Sarjana Pendidikan Biologi, kemudian melanjutkan studi Magister Pendidikan Sains di Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Saat ini penulis aktif mengajar mata kuliah Zoologi Invertebrata, Zoologi Vertebrata, Struktur dan Perkembangan Hewan, serta bidang pembelajaran biologi. Selain mengajar, penulis juga aktif dalam kegiatan penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan, literasi sains, dan keanekaragaman hayati. Melalui buku ini, penulis berupaya memperkenalkan gastropoda sebagai bagian penting dari kehidupan dan ekosistem, serta sebagai sarana pembelajaran biologi yang kontekstual dan berkelanjutan.
