Panili (Vanilla planifolia) merupakan salah satu komoditas rempah bernilai tinggi yang memiliki peran strategis dalam perdagangan internasional. Namun demikian, daya saing panili tidak hanya ditentukan oleh potensi agronomis dan mutu sensoris semata, melainkan semakin bergantung pada kemampuan sistem produksi dan pascapanen dalam memenuhi standar keamanan pangan, mutu, ketertelusuran, serta persyaratan regulasi dan pembeli yang terus berkembang. Dalam konteks tersebut, ketersediaan rujukan ilmiah yang komprehensif dan berbasis standar menjadi kebutuhan yang semakin mendesak, baik bagi akademisi, praktisi, maupun pembuat kebijakan.
Buku ini disusun sebagai buku referensi ilmiah yang mengintegrasikan aspek botani dan produksi panili, teknologi pascapanen dan curing, pengendalian mutu dan keamanan pangan, sistem pengujian dan laboratorium, serta kerangka standar internasional seperti Codex Alimentarius, ISO, dan regulasi negara importir. Pendekatan yang digunakan tidak hanya menekankan aspek teknis, tetapi juga menempatkan panili dalam perspektif rantai nilai dan tata kelola mutu yang relevan dengan dinamika perdagangan global.
Kehadiran buku ini dapat menjadi sumber rujukan yang bermanfaat bagi mahasiswa, peneliti, dosen, pelaku usaha, eksportir, serta pemangku kepentingan lain yang terlibat dalam pengembangan panili Indonesia. Selain itu, buku ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam memperkuat pemahaman bahwa peningkatan daya saing panili memerlukan pendekatan sistemik, yang menghubungkan praktik di tingkat hulu dengan tuntutan standar dan pasar di tingkat hilir.
